It all began in detention.

In third grade, Ray Nelson was told by his teacher, Mrs. Johnson, that he better shape up. She said to stop drawing cartoons and, for the love of God, stop making the other children laugh. Since that time, Ray has won 2 Emmy Awards and written 42 children’s books, including multiple best sellers through Scholastic Book Fairs. He has created a Saturday morning cartoon and helped some of the most trusted brands in the world communicate complex messages in fun and unique ways to children and families.

So suck it Mrs. Johnson.

A weird combination.

Ray Nelson is the world’s largest children’s book author and cartoonist. He is really really big. He is also a strange combination of artist and business person. While he loves drawing and writing he also loves to create business plans, sales strategies and marketing campaigns that drive results and make kids laugh.

Ray lives in West Linn, Oregon with his wife Theresa and their large drooling dog, Harley. Ray has three children that are responsible for many of his stories as well as his recent hair loss.
